Project 2: Triq Hompesch – Fgura

This project seeks to transform Triq Hompesch - one of the most car-dominated roads - into a boulevard that prioritizes walkability, greenery, and sustainable urban design.
The plan includes reducing vehicular traffic in the town centre, widening footpaths, and introducing indigenous trees, shrubs, and integrated seating areas to create green spaces.
A rainwater harvesting system will help mitigate flooding risks and support new vegetation, while overhead lighting cables will be removed to improve the street’s aesthetic appeal.
Project 3: Floriana

A joint submission between the Local Council and Friends of the Earth will create a dedicated cycling lane along Xatt iċ-Ċangatura and Triq Emvin Cremona, separated by a green corridor.
The project will enhance pedestrian connectivity by adding a 70-meter missing pavement along Xatt iċ-Ċangatura and introducing Toucan Crossings for safer pedestrian and cyclist movement.
Accessibility will also be improved for persons with disabilities and those using pushchairs by replacing steps with dedicated ramps.
Project 4: Żebbuġ

The project in Ħal Mula, Żebbuġ, will transform this low-density residential area near Wied Qirda into a more connected, pedestrian-friendly urban space.
Plans include revitalizing the main garden with an open-air gym and an underground rainwater reservoir for irrigation.
A landscaped promenade along Triq il-Poeta Nazzjonali will be introduced, along with restructured parking spaces and a green buffer to enhance pedestrian safety.
Project 5: Selmun – Mellieħa

Triq Selmun in Mellieħa will undergo a full reconfiguration to prioritize pedestrians and cyclists while improving access to the area’s scenic views.
The project will reduce lane widths to ensure safe two-way passage for heavy vehicles while creating additional pedestrian infrastructure.
Formalized parking spaces near Selmun Chapel will be introduced, along with underground reservoirs to collect rainwater for sustainable irrigation of newly planted greenery.
Project 6: Mosta

Located in a historic part of Mosta, this project aims to preserve and enhance the area while improving walkability and accessibility.
Spanning Triq it-Torri and Triq il-Qasira, the proposal includes pedestrian zones, green infrastructure, and rainwater harvesting systems.
Benches, green spaces, and communal areas will be introduced, maintaining essential vehicular access along Vjal l-Indipendenza.
The Mosta Local Council has committed to maintaining the project for the next ten years.
Project 7: Msida

The Msida project, with a budget of €329,132, will introduce a temporary pedestrian zone along Triq Oscar Zammit, transforming it into a vibrant community space.
By restricting vehicle access during closure periods and rerouting traffic, the project ensures a smooth flow in surrounding areas while enhancing safety and connectivity.
Plans also include cycling infrastructure and a 10-year maintenance strategy for street furniture, irrigation, lighting, and landscaping.
Project 8: Triq John Ayde – Naxxar

Triq John Ayde in Naxxar will be converted into a 200-meter-long recreational space.
The street will be narrowed to prioritize pedestrians while increasing parallel parking spaces.
The design incorporates indigenous tree planting, picnic areas, and recreational spaces, preserving the historical significance of the Victoria Lines.
Project 9: Rabat

The Rabat Local Council proposes an innovative transformation of Saqqajja into a high-quality public space to address urbanization challenges.
The project will increase pedestrian zones by 60% and create a green corridor linking Rabat and Mdina while protecting local biodiversity.
Mature trees will be preserved, and new indigenous trees and shrubs will be planted.
A blue infrastructure system will collect rainwater from restored wells to sustain vegetation, while energy-efficient LED streetlights will enhance security and reduce light pollution.
The space will host cultural, educational, and social events in collaboration with local schools and the Rabat Regional Library.
Project 10: Safi

In Ħal Safi, the redesign of Misraħ il-Knisja, covering 2,167m², will transform the square into a pedestrian-priority space while preserving its historical significance.
The project will reduce vehicular traffic, create green areas, and enhance public spaces to improve community well-being.
The square, a focal point for the community, will be reconfigured to prioritize pedestrians and foster a safer, more accessible environment.
Project 11: Triq Mons Mikiel Azzopardi – Siġġiewi

This project will upgrade the critical 3km road to improve safety, connectivity, and multi-modal transport while integrating ecological infrastructure.
The road links Siġġiewi to surrounding localities and supports over 450 residents, along with heavy traffic related to quarries and construction industries. The project, divided into two phases, includes:
Infrastructure improvements, 615 meters of dedicated cycling lanes, 162 trees, and 1,424 sqm of permeable surfaces for better rainwater management.
The creation of a connected green network and pedestrian-friendly spaces linking Ġnien il-Familja and the Tal-Providenza area via a safe 43-minute walking route.
Project 12: Triq San Tumas – Tarxien

Project 14: Misraħ St Marija – Żurrieq
