Vjal Kulħadd is an Infrastructure Malta initiative aimed at transforming local road design into safer, more accessible, and environmentally-friendly spaces.
The plan? Better pedestrian paths, more alternative mobility routes, and public transport access improvements. Plus, it’s going green! Expect new trees, permeable surfaces to handle rainwater, and a network of walkable, shady paths to explore.
Moving beyond just accommodating vehicles, this project focuses on creating inviting streetscapes for all users. Through collaboration with local councils, the project will enhance community well-being by providing pedestrianised areas, enhanced mobility and increased access without conventional modes of transportation.
Key objectives include improving pedestrian safety, rethinking road configurations to support public transport and cycling, and creating well-connected, walkable routes. Additionally, the project seeks to introduce green elements like permeable surfaces and mature trees to manage stormwater and reduce urban heat.
Through Vjal Kulħadd, Infrastructure Malta envisions a future where local roads are vibrant, accessible, and sustainable for residents and visitors alike.
